There are a lot of references to Pink Floyd in the reviews, and I suppose I get that, but this is something its own. Veering into hard jazz and unabashed prog rock often enough, there is yet a modern sensibility which grounds the music, avoiding noodly or dated territory more than it does not.
Seriously good stuff.

Forrest Fang’s music was already among my favorite ambient anyway (and what a name.. what can go wrong if your name is Forrest Fang?!!), with this album he shoots another masterpiece into the endless universe…
Forrest is a multi-talented musician and creates arts of sound and nothing less…
This album just has it ALL… from deserted flows of space-ambient, to ‘Bruno Sanfilippo-ish’ piano-melodies, the always present, and stunning drones with beautiful Eastern instruments on top, gongs and singing-bowl sounds, it’s just too much to mention here…
I urge you to take this dive into the soundworld of this maestro!!! And if you’re there you’ll want to grab any work he has ever created I’m sure!

Steve Thorne’s performance takes on a new dimension and Robin wrote and played a new guitar solo to fit the new style.

of this concept album – the myth of the lonesome cosmonaut forgotten in outer space – is not historically correct.
First of all, Sergey Krikalyov never was alone on the Mir. When Soyuz TM-13 left the space station, its commander Aleksandr Volkov stayed with him. Moreover, both of them weren’t forgotten there, but agreed to stay in the wake of some – in retrospect maybe silly – political decisions made by the disintegrating USSR. Correct is that Krikalyov was living on the Mir almost six months longer than initially planned – 311 days in total.
Nevermind, this 51-minute metaphor about loneliness in a far-away artificial refuge beyond all civilization is a faithful retro-style opus in the vein of 70’s space rock, as created then by “Nektar”, “Eloy”, “Grobschnitt”, and the likes.(Sven B. Schreiber | bandcamp)
